Anchorage Running Club--Events

Each year, the Municipality of Anchorage publishes a comprehensive statewide list of running events. Please view the 2008 Runner's Calendar (pdf) for events sponsored by other organizations.

Run or Walk with Friends. Meet 6:00 p.m. every Wednesday throughout the year at Westchester Lagoon. Run or walk with friends for one hour on the Coastal and/or Chester Creek Trails. More info.

Do Run-Run. Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Meet 5:30 pm at Point Woronzof. Race time 6:00 pm. 4 miles out and back on the Coastal Trail. Entry fee: ARC membership. View the results.

Trent/Waldron Glacier Half Marathon. Saturday, May 24, 2008. Meet 8:00 am Westchester Lagoon. Race time 9:00 am. Flat and fast on Chester Creek and Coastal Trails. Entry fee: ARC membership. Pre-registration and bib pickup: Wednesday, May 21, 2008, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Skinny Raven Sports. If you have participated in previous Trent-Waldron-Glacier races, you may lookup your 2008 goal time. View age records. View preliminary results. View age-graded final results.

Mugwumps. Wednesday, June 18, 2008. Meet 5:30 pm Point Woronzof. Race time 6:00 pm. 10K on Coastal Trail out and back. Limited to persons who have never run a 10K under 45 minutes. Open to all ages. Entry fee: ARC membership. View the results.

Mugwumps was the inspiration of Jay Caldwell and Tim Middleton. The name ‘mugwumps’ was a political term heralding from the 1870-80’s. A person was said to be mug on one side, and wumps on the other, unable to commit to either political view -- as some of us have trouble deciding whether we are serious runners or do it just for fun.

Boondocks Breakaway. Sunday, July 13, 2008. Meet 10:00 am Kincaid Bunker. Race time 11:00 am. 5K on scenic Kincaid Park trails. Entry fee: ARC membership. Race day registration only. View the results.

Masters' 5 and 10K. Wednesday, July 23, 2008. Meet 5:30 pm at Point Woronzof Parking Lot. Race time 6:00 pm. 5 or 10K out and back on flat Coastal Trail. Limited to runners 40 years of age or older. Entry fee: ARC membership. View the results.

Anchorage Running Club presents Big Wild Life Runs. Sunday, August 17, 2008. Relatively flat courses with some hills and paved trails. Additional information will be available in the near future. More info.

8:10 am -- Alaska Museum of Natural History's Run for Your Life kid's fun run (A Healthy Futures event)
9:00 am -- Humpy's Marathon
9:10 am -- Skinny Raven Half Marathon

Oktoberfest. Saturday, October 4, 2008. Meet 7:30 am Snowgoose Restaurant. Race time 9:00 am. 5 and 10K out and back course on the Coastal Trail. 1/4 mile children's race. Octoberfest is a benefit for Bean's Cafe and the Brother Francis Shelter. Entry fee: see application. Bib pickup and late registration Wednesday, October 1, 2008 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Skinny Raven Sports and race day at the Snowgoose Restaurant 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. More info.
